TF is LITERALLY an S+ tier support
CompetitiveTwisted Fate Support by miLt — updated Aug 1, 2026
Due to his (E) ability, he is able to roam around the map since level 2 and generate +1000 gold with his passive for his team before 20 minutes
Item Build
Starting Items
you start with 475gSince your lane trades are not that great, you wanna avoid equal trades and just use your biscuit for early sustain.
You must rush
Ionian Boots of Lucidity since it's the cheapest and fastest way to stack CDR early game.
Early Game items
Kindlegem to finish 40% CDR (CDR cap)
Heart of Gold and
Philosopher's Stone for scaling gold since you are a support.
Full item options
Shurelya's Reverie is kinda mandatory since both components to build it are insane for early game on TF(
Kindlegem and
Philosopher's Stone)
The rest is pretty situational.
Runic Bulwark to be more tanky and give your teammates Armor and MR (It gives more MR than armor, so it's better vs comps with more magic damage);
Ruby Sightstone for vision, overall good;
Locket of the Iron Solari vs teams with more physical damage and to shield allies a bit;
Will of the Ancients if your carries care a lot about AP and spellvamp;
Zhonya's Hourglass if you can constantely be one shotted/easily targeted, good against all-in champions as well like Yi, Jax, etc;
Twin Shadows to gain more self MR and if your team needs the slow to chase more.
Summoner Spells
The main choice of
Revive +
Teleport seems a bit dubious and 4fun but it is actually really powerful in this setup.
Teleport is a really good combination with TF's
Gate (E). Besides giving you another way to impact the map if
Gate (E) is on Cooldown, it is also a great way to return to lane to help your ADC.
Revive is where things get interesting. Paired with
Teleport and
Gate (E),
Revive allows you to surprise enemies by returning to the fight almost instantly, or just go somewhere else after dying. You are a squishy champion and fairly easy for enemies to focus and one-shot during fights to prevent you from spamming Gold Cards, so Revive becomes extremely valuable. It's worth mentioning that you don't need to intentionally die to get value from
Revive , since the CD of it is ~7,5 minutes with masteries. DO NOT USE
Revive ONLY BECAUSE YOU CAN. There is no value in reviving if you don't have a play to make or something to do around the map.
If you don't like
Revive , you can simply take almost any other summoner spell:
Clarity ,
Exhaust ,
Heal ,
Flash ,
Clairvoyance.

| R | R | R |
You max
Pick A Card (W) first to increase the stun time of Gold Card from 1 second to 2. It is extremely important so your ganks are better.
Then you max
Gate (E) because it reduces its CD by a lot = more ganks.
Wild Cards (Q) points are irrelevant since it's just a damage ability and that's not our focus.
Runes
9× Mark of Magic Penetrationmark
9× Seal of Armorseal
8× Glyph of Cooldown Reductionglyph
1× Glyph of Magic Resistglyph
3× Quintessence of Movement Speedquint
The reason we're missing one CDR Glyth is because you'd reach 41% CDR once you finish
Ionian Boots of Lucidity and
Kindlegem (Maximum possible is 40%) so this optmizes your stats better.

1/1As I'm going to mention later, this pick does not care much about damage/scaling, so you need to focus your own stats mostly on utility, like most supports do.
CDR, defenses, Mov. Speed, bonus Gold/EXP are all valuable.
About Me
I've started to play League on S2 and peaked Challenger on regular League in 2024. I have been Grandmasters at least every year since then.
I always try to optimize strategies as much as possible, especially talking about the setup. Hope you enjoy it.

Why TF support?
In this version of TF, he is way better at roaming and map presence and much worse in terms of damage and scaling.
It's also important to say that he scales very poorly with AP. His only AP ratios are 65% on
Wild Cards (Q) and 40% on
Pick A Card (W). So because of this, you don't care about AP on him at all, and focus on CDR to spam your
Gate (E) and
Destiny (R) more often.
There are 3 primary reasons he is insane at support.
Due to
Loaded Dice (P) , TF is able to generate 200-300 gold before the 20-minute mark to each player on his team (TF included), except the support, since the support barely kills units in the game. As mentioned before, this version of TF does not care much about scaling or stacking AP/items, so by playing him as the support to be the person not to gain any gold from your passive, you are able to be useful to all 4 players of your team as a support without doing anything at all.At max rank, Gold Card becomes a 2-second point-and-click stun with a 3.6-second cooldown at 40% CDR.
The elephant in the room,
Gate (E). You have a gigantic map presence from early levels, and you can even put a point into it level 2 if you see a roaming angle. Having global presence every ~1 minute to spam Gold Cards from
Pick A Card (W) on enemies is huge and is what makes this champion work in this case. Once you reach level 6,
Destiny (R) reduces
Gate (E) 's cast time to 1.5 seconds from 3, so you can reach places even faster to create plays with your team.
IMPORTANT TIP TO USE
Gate (E) : If you select your Gold Card on
Pick A Card (W) and THEN cast
Gate (E) , you gonna have no time at all to stun before the Card time runs out.
You can't do the first cast of
Pick A Card (W) while channeling
Gate (E), but can use its second cast. So before using
Gate (E), use the first cast of
Pick A Card (W), then use
Gate (E), and before its channel ends, select the Gold Card so you have way more time to stun the enemy after you arrive.
It's also important to mention that, because of
Gate (E) and the unconventional playstyle, the skill ceiling of this pick is EXTREMELY HIGH. So TF Support is much harder to play than any conventional support.
Matchups
Hardest Matchups
TF's hardest matchups in lane are the ones that cant harass/hard-engage and dive your ADC, especially when you are out of lane roaming. Champions like
Leona or
Alistar can be pretty annoying. His easiest matchups are enchanter supports that don't provide much early presure or dive potential like
Sona or
Janna Overall, his hardest matchups are ones that can easily avoid his Gold Card.
Jax and
Morgana are solid ban choices especially due to how popular they are.
Best Synergies
His best in-game and lane synergies are ones that can follow up on his Gold Card stun to land abilities, or even chain their crowd control to catch enemies.
Playstyle
Early Game
During early levels, you usually just want to chill in lane and use Gold Card only if your ADC can follow up or make use of it. Do not expose yourself too much since you are VERY SQUISHY. Use Blue Card on minions so you keep your mana up.
On levels 2/3, you can level up
Gate (E) and look for plays in Top or Mid, especially if they are pushed, or just double gank with your jungler.
You wanna always look for those plays if you have
Gate (E) available, so you can get your teammates fed and snowball as much as possible. The best way to use it is to either corner enemies so they have to run back to your teammates or take your Gold Card Stun or use it out of vision to gank them normally afterwards.
Destiny (R) is a great tool not only to cast
Gate (E) faster, but to slow enemies globaly if your team is fighting and needs to chase/run. Watch out for your mana while using it, since it costs 150 mana, that's one reason that Clarity is also useful.
Mid game
It's basically the same idea as before, but now you don't need to stay with your ADC to make sure they don't die. When you reach 40% CDR, you can
Gate (E) every 50 seconds or less.
Avoid making plays by yourself cause you do basically no damage, you are a support.
Abuse active items as well to help your team reach the enemy team and stop them while fighting WHILE SPAMMING GOLD CARDS NON-STOP ON ENEMIES. Sometimes try to focus carries/priority targets without any tenacity like
Mercury's Treads
Zephyr or
Spirit of the Ancient Golem so you can abuse of the entire 2 seconds of CC
Even if you are less powerful in mid/late game, your teammates will be more powerful, you just need to support them. Not only because of the snowball you can provide in early game, but because of all the bonus gold they earned from
Loaded Dice (P).

Great guide! Personally if I have the ability to go "Wealth" in my runes I love going Crystaline Flask with Faerie Charm/ Reju Bead. On any champ really. I understand you want to rush 40% ASAP but this build especially seems to want to reset a lot so Flask is just so gold efficient and Bead/ Charm builds into PhilStone too so it works great.
