Tank Evelynn - Season 4 Menace Brought to Classic
CompetitiveEvelynn Jungle by her0nz — updated Jul 26, 2026
You sacrifice fun and friends for LP, was it worth it? An unfortunate guide brought to you by an oldschool Eve onetrick.
Item Build
Starting Items
you start with 475gMachete 5 pots is the standard start for games that you don't suspect any funny business. Ward and 2 pots is for games where you go deeper into utility for when you need to defend jungle, and your support doesn't buy early wards (which will be all of them).
Core Build
The core build is as it seems, elder lizard into full tank. This version of Evelynn actually has pretty mediocre scalings, and has extremely high base damage on Q. You want to rush into
Spirit of the Elder Lizard as soon as possible with tier 1 boots. After which you'll want to complete your tier 2s which will either be
Boots of Mobility or
Mercury's Treads, depending on the state of the game. Or if the game is slower get
Heart of Gold to start stacking gold for your first tank item in
Randuin's Omen.
Next after
Randuin's Omen you'll rush another
Heart of Gold and start stacking your gold towards your
Aegis of the Legion and eventually
Runic Bulwark . You can just sit on
Aegis of the Legion and buy another tank item instead if you so wish.
If you are building
Zhonya's Hourglass as a secondary tank item over
Frozen Heart, consider buying a
Seeker's Armguard early to stack the AP and Armor, and sit on it until later.
One question you might have is why you would build
Spirit of the Elder Lizard over
Spirit of the Spectral Wraith? This is because The AD and AP scalings are otherwise identical on Evelynn, but
Spirit of the Elder Lizard has the added benefit of increasing your auto attack damage, and giving you the burn on all of your abilities. If you are not benefiting from the AP in other ways (like getting more out of deathcap) or building a lot of damage to get more out of the spellvamp,
Spirit of the Spectral Wraith isn't really worth the buy, especially since it only gives 5 more AP than Lizard does AD.
Flex Items
Evelynn is a champion that can build almost anything. Her unique pairing of scalings, attack speed buff, and durability/shielding allows her to get a lot out of many different types of items. As you improve with Evelynn and see different openings, you will be able to mix and match different builds and items to suit your game. Listed are some viable items you could go in your games depending on context.
For example, if you're against a big magic damage threat, going
Hexdrinker early is a big buff to your damage and magic resist in a single purchase. Or if you're against a team you're confident you can snowball on, an early
Mejai's Soulstealer is a very solid purchase.

Whether or not you go QEQ or QEW depends on whether or not you're doing a level 3 gank. Unfortunately this guide format doesn't let me go into the nuance of clearing paths, but if you're suspecting a very slow early game or don't notice an opportunity just go QEQ. If you are suspecting you might be invaded go QEW as well.
Runes
THESE ARE THEONLY RUNES U NEED Runes
9× Mark of Attack Damagemark
9× Seal of Armorseal
9× Glyph of Ability Powerglyph
3× Quintessence of Ability Powerquint
These are the defacto Evelynn runes, and were until she was reworked in season 7. You are min-maxing your early game power to get yourself ahead, nothing else matters on Evelynn.

These are standard offensive masteries, though these aren't set in stone as I'm constantly changing them out to test things. You skip the percent AP masteries because you are obviously not building enough AP for it to be efficient. In the utility tree the only masteries you need to 100% take ever time are the improved recall and runic affinity, the rest are to taste. I recommend the Mana Per level at the very least since you will run out of mana in longer fights.
Unfortunately this website doesn't let me show alternative masteries, but there is also a 9/9/12 page you can run when you're at threat of being invaded by a Lee Sin or other aggressive jungler or top laner. You take Biscuit, which allows you to take 2 potions+biscuit and a sight ward, allowing you to defend your jungle.
