Nunu can easily clear the jungle without going too low on health. This means you can start with Sight Ward , which is huge for early invades and controlling the enemy jungler.

You also have Explorer's Ward for additional vision in the early game. Total Biscuit of Rejuvenation is not that useful on Nunu, but it is a prerequisite for Explorer's Ward. Still, the biscuit can come in handy when you need some sustain in the early game.

Core Build

Spirit of the Ancient GolemBoots of MobilityRuby SightstoneRunic Bulwark

Nunu fits into the bucket of most tank junglers and has a similar core build.

Spirit of the Ancient Golem just provides great stats overall. The Tenacity is especially very nice.

Boots of Mobility are very strong boots in Classic League for junglers. Since you have Tenacity from your jungle item, Mercs not required. Later in the game, you should swap out your boots for Ninja Tabi .

Ruby Sightstone is great on Nunu. Due to your playstyle you will be in the enemy jungle a lot, and you are just a very supportive champion in general. With Blood Boil (W) you also have great map mobility and you are hard to catch, which enables you to get deep wards without much risk.

Runic Bulwark is just an insanely valuable item and Nunu is one of the best users in the entire game, due to his role as a very supportive tank that wants to stay alive for most of the fight to keep applying buffs to allies and debuffs to enemies.

Flex Items

Randuin's OmenFrozen HeartSpirit VisageForce of NatureThornmailWarmog's ArmorOracle's ElixirVision WardStark's Fervor

After your core items, you will want to buy tank items that suit the game state.

Randuin's Omen is the armor item of choice in most games. It provides great stats and effects against auto attackers and the mix of armor and HP makes you very tanky. The HP is also handy because Nunu has some health scalings in his kit through the Consume (Q) buffs.

Frozen Heart is a viable option as well, since the attack speed slow aura is valuable. However, this item is less good on Nunu than other tank junglers for a few reason. Firstly, the CDR is not as valuable on Nunu as other champions since Nunu does not need a lot of CDR to get 100% uptime on Blood Boil (W). If you manage your mana well and be mindful of efficiency with Visionary (P), you also shouldn't really need the mana.

Thornmail is a viable armor item as well. Usually you would only get this after already finishing another armor item, so it's only if you want additional defense against auto attackers.

Spirit Visage is a good option for Nunu if you need additional magic resist. The self healing buff is very nice as Nunu should be looking to use Consume (Q) in fights (on either lane minions or jungle monsters) for sustain. As mentioned, the CDR is good but not as valuable as on other junglers.

Force of Nature is your go to item if you want to get the most bang for your buck in terms of MR. Do keep in mind that this item does not provide any health. Most of the time Spirit Visage will be the better option due to the HP and healing buff.

Warmog's Armor is a viable item for Nunu as well. Nunu has HP scalings in his kit so all this raw HP is great. Keep in mind that the more HP you have, the better resists are (and vice versa). If you want to just be a dumb fat Nunu, getting a Warmog's after Runic will achieve just that. Be careful of items like Liandry's Torment and Blade of The Ruined King however. Most of the time I wouldn't recommend Warmog's since 1) you need to stack it which Nunu sucks at, and 2) it is just competing with much better tank items like Randuin's or Visage.

Oracle's Elixir and Vision Ward are items you should be getting often as Nunu. Think of yourself as having a big share of the vision burden on your team.

The skill order on Nunu is very game dependent. Usually you want to max Consume (Q) first for clear, counterjungling and objective secure. The lower cooldown with level is handy. Before fights, you want to get the Golem consume buff if possible.

The healing on Consume (Q) is a lot lower than other versions of old Nunu. It's possible that you can go 3 points in Q and move on, but in my experience so far it has felt good to max it out.

For Ice Blast (E) vs Blood Boil (W), it really depends on the game.

Ice Blast (E) is higher damage but neither the cooldown nor the attack speed slow improves with rank.

Blood Boil (W) however does improve both the MS and AS buff with points. Therefore, in most games you want to max Blood Boil (W) first.

A good general option is to put 3 points in Ice Blast (E) and then max Blood Boil (W), but in some games you are better off just maxing Blood Boil (W) as soon as possible if you have a strong teammate who really likes this buff.

Identifying when to do what comes with experience. General rule of thumb is to put a lot of points in Blood Boil (W) if you have strong teammates who like this buff (and usually you will, otherwise picking Nunu isn't a great idea).

Introduction

Hey, I'm a long time afficionado of Classic League of Legends. I have played since 2010 and was a closed beta tester on Chronoshift (RIP), so I have a lot of previous experience with old school League of Legends - both somewhat recently and from the very beginning. During my league career I peaked in the top 1000 on the ladder on EUW.

This build is for Nunu, who is a very strong control and supportive jungler in Classic League.

The guide is a bit barebones for now, since I think people are just looking for builds. I will add general strategy later if there is enough interest.

Have fun on the (classic) rift, my fellow summoners!

Early Game

You want to abuse your great counterjungling power. Try to use your early wards to get good information of the enemy jungler's path and punish it with your invades.

Remember that you can secure any buff with Consume (Q) and Smite.

Now that trinkets have a 90 second cooldown in the beginning of the game, the enemy team has almost no way to stop you. Just be careful of getting collapsed on and don't be too greedy.

You don't need to go and steal the enemy jungler's buff in front of his face, though you sometimes can. Often the safer and better option is to just go eat his other buff. Use your wards to get the required information.

The early game is very important for Nunu. Your main job is to control the enemy jungler. This means setting up vision so your teammates don't get ganked, invading to set them behind and force them into inefficient pathing. Nunu is also a great counterganker and you have plenty of opportunities for this with your vision and general control of the enemy jungler.

Mid Game

After the early game, you want to identify who you are mainly playing around.

Focus on setting up vision, stealing large jungle monsters and playing with your strong teammates to set them up for success.

Remember that you have insane objective securing which means you can take Dragon and Baron at otherwise risky times.

Teamfights

You want to primarily play as a peeler and buffer. Try to stay alive in teamfights so you can keep applying your Blood Boil (W) and Runic Bulwark to your teammates as well as debuffing the enemy team.

Use Ice Blast (E) and Absolute Zero (R) to peel enemies. If you get a good angle, you can also try to Ice Blast (E) the enemy carry, but be careful of not overforcing this as it can easily get you killed too early in the fight. It's usually better to stay alive.
